Claire's Story

About Claire's Amazeballs

I'm Claire — a Pilates teacher who started making energy balls in my kitchen in Marlow, and somehow ended up running a business with 12 Great Taste stars to its name. People often assume the snacks came first. They didn't. Movement did.

Where it actually started

I grew up in Nottinghamshire during the miners' strike in the 1980s, in a working-class family where food was about getting through the week, not nutrition. That's probably where my fascination with what food actually does for you started — not from a cookbook, but from noticing the difference quality ingredients made once I finally had access to them.

I trained as a professional dancer, then qualified as a Pilates instructor in both mat and reformer work. Somewhere in dance training I became the person who lived on nuts and seeds, long before "clean eating" was a phrase anyone used. It wasn't a trend to me. It was just what kept me upright through an 8-hour rehearsal day.

The kitchen laboratory

When I moved to Marlow and had three children, my kitchen became exactly that — a lab. I was sick of buying energy balls that were expensive, full of ingredients I couldn't pronounce, and frankly didn't taste very good. So I started making my own with a blender that's seen better days.

My Pilates clients became my first taste testers, mostly because they were already in the room and couldn't easily say no. Their honest feedback — including the recipes that didn't make the cut — shaped what eventually became Claire's Amazeballs.

Eat well. Move well. Feel well.

That's the philosophy the whole business runs on now, and it's the reason you'll increasingly see Pilates and movement content here alongside the snacks, not just recipes and ingredients.

Eat well — handcrafted energy balls made with organic dates, quality nuts and seeds, and nothing you can't pronounce. Less is more: every recipe is built to need fewer ingredients, not more.

Move well — Pilates and practical movement, taught by someone who's spent over 20 years teaching dancers and Pilates clients how to actually use their bodies, not just stretch them.

Feel well — small, realistic choices rather than perfection. No guilt, no restriction — just things that genuinely help, said honestly.

Who it's for

Dancers and athletes who need real fuel, not a sports-marketing version of it. Families who want snacks they don't have to interrogate the label on. Pilates clients and fitness regulars who need something that actually sustains energy rather than spiking it. And anyone who's tired of choosing between "tastes good" and "actually does you good" — because that's not a choice you should have to make.

How it's made

Organic dates for sweetness, quality nuts and seeds for protein and good fats, and nothing else that doesn't need to be there. No artificial additives, no preservatives, nothing on the ingredient list I wouldn't be happy explaining to one of my kids.

Where I can, packaging is eco-friendly, suppliers are local, and waste is kept to a minimum. Not because it's good marketing, but because it's hard to claim to care about wellbeing while ignoring the planet it depends on.
